The purpose of the Municipal Employees’ Federation is to improve the wages, hours and working conditions of its members; to promote their intellectual, social and economic welfare; and, to respect its membership in disputes with their employees.
MEF is a chapter of our parent labor group, the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees. MEF has been a chapter established since the 1960s. We are the largest labor group represented among the City of San Jose employees, representing over 2,500 members in over 10 city departments.
