No Deal From Thursday Mediation, Strike Looming but More Mediation Scheduled
Thursday, we engaged in discussions with the City and the state mediator, and while good progress was made, we, unfortunately, have not yet reached an agreement.
Encouragingly, the City finally demonstrated movement toward our position, signaling that our collective efforts are making a difference. However, it's important to note that this movement was not a step all the way toward the middle ground we've been seeking from them. As a result, we were unable to accept the offer presented to us. City administrators continue to plant poison pills within the agreement and leave out key tenets.
The good news is that we are getting closer, and this progress can be attributed to our unwavering determination and the preparations we've made for a possible strike. Our commitment to securing a fair contract and "staffing up San Jose" is stronger than ever, and we are confident that our persistence will lead to winning for us and for the public services we deliver to our community.
We are now at a critical juncture.
The City has just a few days to bridge the remaining gap between us. Our strike vote and preparations have sent a clear message to the City that we are serious about our demands. The City's bargaining team is returning to the City Council tomorrow to provide an update and seek the necessary authority to reach an agreement.
Your involvement is crucial at this moment. We need every member to sign up for a picket shift for each day of the potential strike. By standing together and participating in the picket line, we amplify our collective voice and demonstrate our resolve to secure a fair and just contract.

In addition to over $200,000 in large money commitments from Unions to our strike fund, small contributions to our GoFundMe page are starting to soar also. Please keep sharing the link to the strike fund with your networks. https://gofund.me/ff637c57
We are on the brink of making history, and with your continued dedication and support, we are confident that we will achieve the fair contract that we deserve. The path ahead may not be easy, but our unity and determination will see us through.
Thanks to all of those who showed up today to help make strike picket signs! You can still show up in front of City Hall this evening or tomorrow at 12:00.
Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our shared goals. Together, we will make a difference.
Keep it up. We are almost there. We are going to win.
